Creating with Consent: Onstage Intimacies
Cal Summer Arts 2023
Theatrical Intimacy Education
In the pursuit of becoming a more well-rounded theater artist, I completed a 40 hour intensive led by Amanda Rose Villareal of Cal State Fullerton, focused on the creation of consent-based and trauma-informed theater spaces, as well as the intricacies of creating intimacy choreography in numerous scenarios. At the end of the intensive, I was able to act as an intimacy choreographer in a final showcase piece devised by myself and my fellow students.
My teachings from Amanda Rose Villareal, as well as Laura Rikard, Gregory Geffard, Raja Benz, and Kim Shively, have influenced the way I fundamentally approach theatermaking, and have ultimately led to my pursuit if a career in intimacy choreography.

I currently serve as the first Resident Intimacy Choreographer of the student-run theater company at UC Berkeley, BareStage productions, where I act as the intimacy choreographer for mainstage shows, lead workshops on consent-based and trauma-informed theater, and serve as a consultant for directors and performance groups within BareStage and in the UC Berkeley performance community.
Below is an overview of all of the projects I have worked on in my career so far!
BareStage Productions’ Spring Awakening
Spring Awakening has been the most complex piece I have intimacy choreographed, but was ultimately the most rewarding.
BareStage Productions’ Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812
A nuanced and emotionally intricate piece, Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, directed by Karen Canfield, was my return to musicals.
Barestage Productions’ Much Ado About Nothing
The first full-length show I served as an intimacy choreographer on, Much Ado About Nothing was an absolute riot of a show!
Much Ado About Nothing was directed by Riya Borde.
“THe eye of the beholder”
FIlm by Kira Wefers
The first film that I intimacy choreographed, “The Eye of the Beholder” features the intimacy of the “almost”.
Untitled Theater COmpany’s The Real INspector HOund
A part of Debut of the Absurd, this hilarious absurdist play blurs the line between reality and performance.
The Real Inspector Hound was directed by Joshua Gould.
“Fortune’s Fool”
FIlm by Matilda Macon
A sapphic fantasy enemies to lovers film with swords, arrogant men and badass women, Fortune’s Fool by Matilda Macon is the first narrative short I have intimacy choreographed.
Barestage Productions’ Mircalla
A beautifully queer and hilarious show, Mircalla explores true lesbian love through a queering of the classic Carmilla.
Mircalla was directed by Ella Darlington.
